Dr. Gillespie is a Senior Medical Director in the Office of the Chief Medical and Scientific Officer (CMSO). In this role, Dr. Gillespie focuses on the integration of medical expertise across our physicians and scientists at QuintilesIMS, the world’s leading biopharmaceutical services company. Additionally, she directly supports Quintiles’ CMSO for issues related to science, strategy, ethics and governance.
In her 10+ years at Quintiles she has provided consultation to sponsors as the Global Therapeutic Strategic Lead in Nephrology, and on project teams as Global Lead Medical Advisor; most recently she was the North American Head of Medical Strategy in Immunology and Internal Medicine. She provides a full range of strategic expertise to lead or support regulatory meetings and submissions, business development, CDPs, Protocol Design & Writing, DSMB and CECs, due diligence, market analysis, and commercialization efforts.
Dr. Gillespie has developed strategic business-relationships with providers of renal care, and serves on Stakeholder Advisory Boards for the FDA/EMA/NKF Workshop on Renal Endpoints, the National Kidney Foundation’s Chronic Kidney Disease Registry, and a Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute grant for dialysis patients. She has served as an invited panelist speaker for the CardioVascular Clinical Trials Forum and the Kidney Health Initiative, and directly collaborates with key opinion leaders at Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) and American Society of Nephrology, and representatives from the FDA.
Dr. Gillespie is board certified in Nephrology, an Adjunct Professor at the University Of North Carolina School Of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension, a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology, and an Associate Medical Director of a local dialysis unit and renal clinic. She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, and the Hahnemann School of Medicine; she completed her residency in Internal Medicine at University of North Carolina and Nephrology fellowship at Duke University.
