Dr. Gillespie is a Senior Medical Director in the Office of the Chief Medical and Scientific Officer (CMSO). In this role, Dr. Gillespie focuses on the integration of medical expertise across the 950+ physicians at QuintilesIMS, and directly supports the CMSO for issues related to science, strategy, ethics and governance.
In her 10+ years at Quintiles, she has provided clients a full range of strategic expertise to lead or support regulatory meetings, clinical development plans, protocol design and writing, DSMB and CEC, ESCs, regulatory submissions, due diligence, market analysis, and commercialization efforts.
Her past roles include North American Head of Medical Strategy in Immunology and Internal Medicine, Global Therapeutic Strategic Lead in Nephrology, and Global Lead Medical Advisor. Dr. Gillespie has developed strategic business-relationships with providers of renal care, serves on a PCORI grant’s Stakeholder Advisory Board, and continues to collaborate with key opinion leaders at the FDA, KDIGO, ASN, and Kidney Health Initiative (a novel public-private partnership with FDA to foster nephrology drug development).
Dr. Gillespie is board certified in Nephrology, an Adjunct Professor at the University Of North Carolina School Of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension, a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology, and an Associate Medical Director of a local dialysis unit and renal clinic. She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, and the Hahnemann School of Medicine; she completed her residency in Internal Medicine at University of North Carolina and Nephrology fellowship at Duke University.
