Quintiles Receives ACCME Accreditation With Commendation

As Managing Director, I am pleased to announce that Quintiles Medical Education (QME) has received Accreditation with Commendation as a provider of Continuing Medical Education (CME) from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). This is the ACCME’s highest award status, reflecting Quintiles’ compliance with all 22 of ACCME’s accreditation criteria, and the fact that our CME programs support physician learning and change that is part of a quality improvement system.

The new accreditation – which places Quintiles in the top 24 percent of all CME providers in the United States along with prestigious medical schools and medical societies – runs until November 30, 2016. Of the 168 CME providers with Accreditation with Commendation, only 19 are not medical schools or medical societies, and only 15 are for-profit medical education organizations like QME.

In order to be awarded Accreditation with Commendation, Quintiles not only demonstrated compliance with the ACCME’s base criteria 1-15, but also its mastery of the commendation criteria 16-22. In doing so, Quintiles proved its commitment to identifying and overcoming barriers to physician change and to integrating CME for improving professional practice. Quintiles uses non-educational strategies to enhance change and position itself to influence the scope of content in all educational interventions. Collaboration with a variety of health care systems and CME stakeholders and the ability to work within an institutional framework for quality improvement were keys to Quintiles achieving the status of Accreditation with Commendation.
