In 2010 alone, more than 1.9 million new cases of diabetes were recorded among adults over 20 years of age. Diabetes management education is especially critical to adherence and persistency among these newly diagnosed patients. But with health care professionals (HCPs) and long-term caregivers (LTCs) facing severely compressed schedules, there is limited time during appointments for these critical discussions. Compounding this problem, HCPs and LTCs also have less time to devote to improving their own understanding of diabetes management and treatment advances.
