One regional center of PCC operates in Hungary. Staff and research coordinators at the PCC provide – via the telephone and Internet, in the native language – back-up to study sites in questions and tasks connected with the study. Through regular telephone monitoring visits the PCC constructs professional relations with the investigators and study coordinators, which itself improves the performance of study sites and quality of work as well as contributes to the sense of security of investigators, rapid and accurate data input, and quick solutions to study queries.
I joined the Project Coordination Centre team as a research coordinator trainee in October 2008. Earlier I worked in the clinical section as an assistant. In my first study not only was I responsible for study sites in Hungary but also in Croatia and Bulgaria, which gave me the opportunity of using my English language skills in the workplace. At present I am working on the largest phase III study ever at Quintiles, in cooperation with the clinical team. I do the monitoring work that can be carried out on the office databases and telephone, while my clinical research associate colleagues are in charge of work necessary at the study sites.
