RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., – June 21, 2004 – Quintiles Transnational Corp. today announced that John Ratliff has been appointed Chief Financial Officer, succeeding James L. Bierman, whose retirement, effective June 30, 2004, was announced earlier this year.
Ratliff joins Quintles from Acterna, where he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Acterna is one of the world's largest providers of communications test solutions for telecommunications and cable network operators. Before moving to Acterna in 2000, John worked 19 years at IBM, holding several positins of increasing responsibility. His most recent positions at IBM included Vice President for Finance and Planning, PC Company; Vice President for Finance and Planning, Latin America; and Assistant Controller. John received his bachelor's degree in industrial and systems engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta and his MBA from Duke University in Durham, N.C.
