Quintiles has been ranked in the 2009 InformationWeek 500, the publication’s annual ranking of the nation’s most innovative users of information technology. Quintiles was ranked 50th in its first time on the list.

This distinction comes on the heels of Quintiles being named the 16th Best Place to Work in IT by COMPUTERWORLD magazine in May and being named a finalist in Computer Weekly's "Best Places to Work in IT" rankings.

Each year, InformationWeek honors the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual 500 listing, now in its 21st year. The InformationWeek 500 is unique among corporate rankings as it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders. The program also tracks the technology, strategies, investments and administrative practices of America’s best-known companies.

“We feel very honored to be included in the InformationWeek 500,” said Quintiles Chief Information Officer Bill Deam. “To have made the top 50 in our first year on the list says a lot about the talented people in Quintiles IT who have truly delivered on our promise to the company and our customers.

“Information Technology at Quintiles is not a support function, but an integral part of Quintiles’ business,” Deam continued. “We believe that innovation in technology is essential to deliver the kind of change our biopharma customers need. Incremental improvements just won’t cut it in this new landscape.”

QUINTILES INNOVATION

Among its numerous innovations over the past year, Quintiles’ IT group cited its development of technology and a new operating model that can significantly reduce time to market for new drugs while maintaining quality and efficiency standards. The company is relying on the innovative use of technology and processes to make this new model a reality, speeding the delivery of new medicines to patients around the world.

“For over 20 years, the InformationWeek 500 has honored the most innovative users of business technology,” said InformationWeek Editor-in-Chief Rob Preston. “Year after year, InformationWeek 500 companies harness technology to improve efficiency, boost productivity, drive revenue, and establish a competitive advantage. We applaud this year’s winners, and the CIOs and other executives whose ingenuity and risk taking are at the center of business technology innovation.”
