RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC – April 20, 2012 – Quintiles will grant four scholarships to 2012 graduates from the City of Medicine Academy in Durham, North Carolina as the biopharmaceutical services company celebrates its 30-year anniversary.
The Quintiles 30th Anniversary Scholarships will be grants of $2,500 each, awarded to four students pursuing further studies upon graduation from City of Medicine Academy.
The City of Medicine Academy is the statewide anchor for a cluster of health-related STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) high schools in North Carolina. The school provides a four-year health career curriculum for students interested in pursuing health care careers. Quintiles established a relationship with the school through the company’s support of the North Carolina New Schools Project.
“In recognition of Quintiles’ three decades of business in the Triangle area, we are very pleased to make these scholarships available to students at the City of Medicine Academy,” said Todd Wohler, chief human resources officer at Quintiles. “The Academy is doing great work to promote and encourage health careers among our youth. As Quintiles turns 30 in 2012, we felt it was appropriate to add our support of these efforts. We’re helping to grow the next generation of healthcare professionals.”
City of Medicine Academy School administrators will develop the protocols by which the Quintiles scholarships will be awarded and will select the four recipients. The scholarship winners will be announced at the Academy’s Senior Night event on April 27.
