READING, UK – June 24, 2013 – Quintiles has been named “Britain’s Healthiest Large Company” in the first survey of its kind to identify organizations in Britain with outstanding employee health and wellness programs.
Quintiles also received top honors as overall healthiest workplace. The company was judged runner-up for most smoke-free and most active company.
Organized by health insurer PruHealth, consulting firm Mercer, and the Sunday Telegraph newspaper, Britain’s Healthiest Company seeks to celebrate organizations that bring an exemplary approach to their employees’ health and well-being.
Quintiles UK Head Lindy Jones said Quintiles’ employees are the reason for the company’s success, so their wellness is paramount. “We are in the business of helping develop new and better medicines to save lives and improve human health, but the best medicine is staying as healthy as you can in the first place. PruHealth’s Vitality Age algorithm was used as the underlying methodology to rank the health status of companies and individuals in Britain’s Healthiest Company. The algorithm is derived from a meta-analysis of over 40,000 studies relating to all-cause mortality, and has been developed in conjunction with leading academics.
Being named Britain’s Healthiest Large Company follows another Quintiles UK accolade as the company was recently ranked as a top workplace (sixth) in the United Kingdom by the Great Place to Work Institute®.
