Something as simple as an open mind, warm heart, or flexible schedule can lead to a medical miracle…
For more than 20 years, Quintiles has conducted early phase research studies in healthy adults. These trials generally observe how the body breaks down, distributes, and eliminates low doses of an investigational medication. Volunteers are also monitored for their ability to tolerate the medication.
Located in the greater Kansas City Metropolitan area, Quintiles Overland Park employs full-time physicians, a RN/BSN nursing staff, and pharmacists to oversee the conduct of all studies. The Dormitory Nursing Station is staffed on a 24-hour basis to monitor study participants, and an auxiliary staff of licensed specialists is also available, if needed.
Who can participate in clinical research studies at Quintiles Overland Park?
Nonsmoking adults, who have a clean bill of health and take no or few medications, are generally preferred for healthy trials. In recent years, studies for women and seniors have become increasingly important. Patient trials are also available on an occasional basis for adults with certain medical conditions.
Each study protocol is designed for a targeted group of individuals, whose eligibility for participation is based upon a detailed set of inclusion and exclusion criteria. Inclusion criteria refer to health conditions and lifestyle habits that are acceptable for study enrollment. Alternately, exclusion criteria are medical and behavioral history that would prohibit an individual from participating.
Inclusion/exclusion criteria are established and strictly observed for the safety of the participants and to ensure the integrity of the study.
